Gate Fold Cards

I made a bright gate fold card for my first time and it did not come out perfectly. So I decorated it and am going to keep it for myself. This is what happens when I start crafting after 11pm. It came out cute but doesn't fold quite right.

My second one however came out just right. I decorated it with pictures of my sister and I and gave it to her for her birthday (a day late). I like how it came out. I decorated it simply with lots of swirls cut with my Cricut. If you would like details on how to make it go to this blog for instructions.

I really enjoyed making this card and it is actually pretty easy to make. I think the hardest part was finding the pictures.

DAD Wordbook

I made this one very simple. It being for my dad I did not do a lot of embellishments. I used "manly" colors from ki memories family time set (look at me I know the brand of my paper) that I bought on clearance specifically for this project. I designed it in Design Studio. If you want the cut file I will email it too you. I used Plantin SchoolBook.

I ended up using this wordbook as my birthday card for my dad so I made the card inside on the back of the book.

1st Blog Candy!

Ok here is my first blog candy! I will announce the winner on July 31st.
Simple way to win, follow my blog and or my Facebook page (link is on the top right of my blog.) I will put your name in twice if you are on both. I will also put your name in again for referring someone to either of my pages. Have them or you post on here that you referred them. This is the first of my stamps that I will give away so keep on the look out for more blog candy later!

I have this stamps sets as well. Here is a card I made with the Happy Birthday one. (This is one of my favorites to use).

Using UTEE

I bought UTEE-Ultra Thick Embossing Powder- I had seen the acronym before but never really knew what it meant until I bought a book on chipboard ideas. I am now in love with the stuff. I have made several flowers and a tag with it now. I made a video of the first time I tried it and I have to say I loved how it came out. I used it on my DAD wordbook. Which of course I did not finish yesterday...lol. Almost done :)

This is what I ended up using them for after I made them.

Binder #1

I was looking at one of the wonderful crafters I found on Facebook and came across her altered binder and thought duh...why haven't I done that yet. So I did a simple one. I don't use this binder much but it will look much better sitting in my crafty room now.

I cut the turtle from Life is a Beach and the font from SchoolBook. I stamped the word/letters with different color stamp pads for a ty-die look.

365 Cards: Day 140 challenge

Man did I have some issues with this card. Probably because the phone rang this morning and I stumbled out of bed and straight into the craft room. Morning caffeine needs to kick in apparently before I start crafting. Again I made this card with scraps that I have in my well organized scraps :)

I am not into the name brands of, well anything, so I am not the kind of person to post the names of my papers or stamps, etc. Not to mention I bought all my paper a very long time ago and did not keep the cover to the stacks I bought. If you like the papers I use you will most likely find them at Joann's Fabric store in the paper stacks. They go on sell often there for $10 and I have a teacher discount on top of that.

365 Cards: Day 137 challenge/Organization

I used a scrap of paper from my huge collect of partially used pages for this challenge. I have organized them and can easily use them now.

Hot and Cold card

The card I made for this challenge came out cut. Not one of my favorites but cute none the less. I cut the cat & dog with Celebrations and use a piece of a book page for the back ground.

http://365cards.blogspot.com/2010/07/day-137-hot-and-cold.html

So I had this huge pile of scraps that I never used because it was impossible to find anything. I went to Joann's Fabrics (my favorite crafty store)and bought something to help me organize. Oh and help it has. After a couple hours of going through my scraps and organizing them into these fantastic holders (picture below) I have now used scraps everyday. I have so many pieces of paper in there that I just cut a small amount from. I love the containers. I am thinking of getting another set for my used paper. The set was $24.99 but of course I used a 50% of coupon so it was $12 to make my life easier.

Mojo Monday challenge #147

So I needed to make a card for my niece. My brother and his wife have four boys already so we expected a boy again (they decided not to find out). Boy were we surprised to meet Baylee. She is very cute. I used the mojo sketch for inspiration and made a pink card for our little girl!

Crafty Night 1

Last night I had my first meetup.com meeting night. If you haven't checked out meetup.com yet you should if you want to met some new friends. I started a group in the town I live in and have a few people in my area that have joined. Last night two of them came and we spend about three hours crafting. None of us had very much inspiration. One of the girls had never used the Cricut so she spent most her time making cut outs on the Cricut and figuring it out.
I have a friend that was down sizing her crafty collection and I scored some good stuff including about 50 crafty magazines so we spent some time looking through them trying to find some inspiration. I did find a couple of ideas from them and tried some new things. However I never did finish any one project. So I will post pictures later when I am done with some of the projects.
Overall it was a fun night and I hope to have more people come next time.

Color Throwdown 100 Inspired

These colors are what you have to use in the challenge...

So with the thought of my scraps of paper to add to my collection I decided to use all the 12x12 sheet of paper for this challenge. Which I ended up making four cards out of.

These two cards are very simple...

This card I cut a hole with my Cricut then designed the card around the hole.

This last card was the first one of this kind that I made. It has a detachable bookmark inside (assuming it comes off right). Iam going to test it out to make sure it works then make them for all my aunt's since they like to read so much.

Color Throwdown 99

http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2010/06/color-throwdown-99.html

I love these colors! This was going to be the colors of my wedding until it was going to be held outside and I figured there would be enough brown already so I changed it to silver. Aqua/turquoise is my favorite color. My card came out very cute.

MojoMonday #146 challenge.

Here is my card. I was inspired by this challenge apparently since my card came out so good. I love the new stamp set I bought at Micheal's. I used strips of cardstock and stamped them for the strips and spray glittered the embellishments. If you have not bought a bottle of spray glitter yet you should. It can make a boring piece of cardstock look so good.

I love Ebay!

I have a lot of free time since I am on summer break and have been spending a lot of time on Ebay. I have won four cartridges in the last couple weeks. Last night I got the Stamping cartridge for $11. That is the cheapest I have got one yet. I also finally got Life's a Beach. Not as cheap but $26 is a good deal still. I am ebay crazy right now! I love it!

365 Cards: Day 124 challenge

I had a feeling today would be purple so I made a purple card today too! Glad to see I was right.
I was inspired by some digi files at and made one similar using photoshop for my background. The scallop was cut our with my Winter Wonderland cartridge and the hippo stamp is from the dollar bin at Micheal's (my favorite place to buy my stamps).

365 Cards: Day 123 challenge

For the yellow challenge at 365 Cards. I used my digi stamp I bought over at
http://thecuttingcafe.typepad.com/the_cutting_cafe/ for the happy birthday stamp again. I don't make many yellow cards but I like the way this one came out.

365 Cards: Day 120 challenge

This challenge inspired me to make this shades of green card. I found a fantastic blog that makes digi stamps and bought myself a few of them. I am still figuring them out and not sure about them yet but I liked the circles with the words so I bought a set. The happy birthday circle was printed on my printer and colored with my prism colors then gamsol on top to give it a smoother look. The scallop circle is from my Winter Wonderland cartridge.

happy happy birthday Cricut card

This card inspired me to make a card like it and I usually use stamps to embellish my cards but I decided to use my Cricut mainly this time. The backgound I made using word and printed it out. I used Doodlecharms for the cupcakes and Alphalicious for the letters. I was trying to make a more manly colored card since I usually make such girly cards. I think I will make a few more like this one :)
